Whatever you are currently experiencing, feeling, thinking about or doing, Psychological Therapy can probably help you to get more out of life.
The therapeutic use of psychological approaches can help with improving overall mental wellbeing, general difficulties, or more specific problems. Examples of particular issues which many people find psychology helpful for include: Problems in professional or personal relationships; Upsetting memories; Challenging life events and changes; Addiction; Loss and struggling with the experience of overwhelming emotions such as anger, fear, sadness, shame or guilt.
Training and working as a Doctor in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) involves learning several different therapeutic models and integrating these.
My training and knowledge of these models, combined with your expertise in your own experience will allow me to work with you to come to an understanding of your current situation, emotions, thoughts and behaviour. This understanding will enable us to decide which approach will best meet your psychological needs.
Many people find an initial assessment (1-3 sessions) and coming to an understanding of their difficulty is all they require, whereas other people may prefer to meet with me for more sessions.
It is worth bearing in mind that all therapists work differently; if you have had previous experiences of therapy which you have found unhelpful please let me know so we can ensure the approach we use is the most beneficial for you.
